All of a Sudden Houston is a Playoff Contender

Houston TexansThere are certain sequences of words that have never been strung together before in the history of the NFL. One of them: “Jason Campbell is a fantastic QB”. Another: “Houston Texans earn playoff berth”. But one of these could very well become reality this year (hint: it’s not the former).

Houston has quietly wormed its way into the playoff picture and maybe even more depending on the Colts finish up the second half of the football wagering season. This is a team that has flown under the radar all season.

But at 5-3 the Texans aren’t going to take anyone by surprise in the pro football wagering.

For most teams a 5-3 start might not be a big deal but it just happens to be the best start in franchise history and is terrific winning percentage in the NFL wagering for a team that has never finished better than 8-8 in the regular season.

And the playoffs? Never been more than a fantasy in the minds of most Texans, but not this year.  Led by NFL passing leader QB Matt Schaub this team has a mighty potent offense that can alternate body blows in the running game with Steve Slaton and knockout punches in the deep passing game with Andre Johnson.

On defense, there is something to be desired but team has a proven pass rush and so long as the offense keeps putting up points the defense’s load will be light.

With a friendly schedule that includes Seattle and St Louis in the next few weeks this Houston team should win at least ten games and get a Wild Card berth in the post season.
