RB Chris Johnson is running into the record books
Tennessee is one of the hottest teams in football wagering right now after reeling off five straight wins, and while all the recent headlines have been focused on Vince Young and the passing game (and rightfully so) the pillar of this offense and perhaps the most important player on the team is RB Chris Johnson.
Johnson has benefitted more than any other player on the Titans by Young’s reemergence as the starting QB and is quietly putting together one of the finest season’s by a RB in a long time.
For those pro football wagering fans not in the know, Johnson leads the entire NFL wagering world in rushing with 1396 yards through 11 games.
Fine stats to be sure but what’s most impressive is Johnson’s mind-blowing 6.4 yards per carry, also tops in the NFL. When you break down the numbers even further the more impressive his performance becomes.
He also leads the league in yards per game, not surprising considering he’s the yardage leaders but his 126.9 ypg is almost 27 ypg better than the second best runner (Steven Jackson 101 ypg).
And as if that wasn’t enough, only two players have ever had TD runs of 85 yards or more …in their career. Johnson has already matched that mark in the first 11 games of this season. Incredible numbers by any measure.
Johnson has always put up big numbers but since Young returned his stats have been ridiculous.
With defense having to respect not only Young’s arm but his legs holes and soft spots have emerged that were never there before and Johnson has exploited them to perfection.
