Jauron Era Over in Buffalo, Uncertainty Begins

November 19th, 2009 by Danny Firth Leave a comment Go to comments

Dick JauronThe Buffalo Bills are in football wagering turmoil and any shot this squad might have had at an AFC crown has long since passed. Head Coach Dick Jauron’s recent firing wasn’t unexpected, but it will accomplish little and could even make things worse for this beleaguered franchise that just can’t seem to get anything going on offense.

Jauron was a bit of an unexpected hire to begin with, but it seemed as if the front office had faith in his ability to lead this team in the football wagering competition and the continuity he and his staff brought into the season was seen as a plus.

But he didn’t seem to bring much else to the table and as a result, after a 3-6 start to the 2009 pro football wagering season, he was fired.  He becomes the first, but certainly not the last coaching casualty in the NFL so far this NFL wagering season.

So what does his departure from pro football wagering mean for the Bills? Probably not too much. The rest of the staff will remain in tact and he’ll be replaced by defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, an unknown coaching commodity with no head coaching experience that is likely little more than stop gap until the offseason.

There is a bonanza of coaching wealth looking for jobs right now and four Super Bowl winning coaches that are possibly looking to get back into the NFL. No doubt that figured into the firing as well.

But the central football wagering problem in Buffalo has been an inept offense and with O-Coordinator Alex Van Pelt still calling the games and the same set of personnel on the field the result should change little no matter who the head coach is.
