Is the honeymoon over in Denver

Denver BroncosAfter dropping two straight games to two very good AFC North football wagering teams the media and the rest of the world is ready to write the 2009 Denver Bronco’s obituary: a pretty good football wagering team that got off to a very good start but has now been revealed as a sham.

While two losses hardly ruins a season and at 6-2 Denver is still in first place in the AFC West, one of the easiest divisions in football, and on track for the post season.  Still there is reason for concern in the Mile High City.

It’s easy to have a knee-jerk reaction to a two-game losing streak but in this case there is legitimate alarm in regards to the team’s chances against its remaining pro football wagering opponents.

The Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers exposed major flaws in the Broncos lineup that had yet to be exploited by previous opponents but now that the cat is out of the bag it’s hard not to imagine NFL wagering teams looking employing similar game plans.

One major key in defeating the Broncos is limiting their receives yards after catches.  The dink and dunk offense will pick up small chunks of yards but as long as the secondary keeps everything in front this team is not good at sustaining drives and will do itself in.

Kyle Orton is no Tom Brady and Brandon Marshall is no Randy Moss no matter how much Josh McDaniel would like to see them put up those type of numbers in this offense.

There is no real big play threat, nor a menacing running game, so defenses can focus on pressuring Orton.  Denver’s defense is still stout and should keep the team in the playoff hunt.

But with only a one game lead and some tough games ahead, it’s not too early to start panicking.
