Are the 5-4 Falcons wild card material

Atlanta FalconsFor anyone that has mixed thoughts about the Atlanta Falcons this season you can be forgiven. This is a team that has been up and down all football wagering season and with mediocre record of 5-4 it’s hard to know what to expect from this squad from one week to the next.

But make no mistake about the Dirty Birds; they are a playoff quality team.  The team’s record by itself can be misleading.  If you look at its four losses this season there is really only one loss that makes you raise you’re eyebrows.

A loss to the Pats at home in inclement weather, no real surprise there.  Same can be said of a loss in the Super Dome to the Saints, a team that no to other pro football wagering team has been able to beat this season.

And losing to the Cowboys in their second game in their new palace can also be forgiven.  Last week’s NFL wagering loss to the Panthers has to worry fans a bit though.

Yet there exists another caveat when it comes to the team’s mediocre record and that is the fact that the team, after this weekend, will have played four games in a row against a team coming off a bye week.

That extra week of planning has made the road awfully difficult for the Panthers.  Add to that the fact that QB Matt Ryan has struggled a bit this season and Michael Turner is dinged up and there’s reason for doubts.

But the Falcons face only two difficult opponents from here on out and could easily finish 11-5 and that should be good enough to get a wildcard berth.
